Hello everyone and welcome to my page for Granville County! Please note that this is not the official Granville County, NC ALHN page. Click the link under the title to go there. I decided to do this page because I have come across so much information during the past five years of research for school. Since Spring 2000, I have been working on a project to document free blacks in North Carolina before and during the Civil War. As it turns out, the majority of my research thus far has centered around Granville County. If you have, or suspect you have, ancestors from NC that were free blacks, please contact me to help me with this. I am done with school for now, but planning to go for my PhD and hopefully turn this into my dissertation.
The focus of this site is genealogy and history of Granville County. Please submit any material you have relating to Granville county to me please.
In the future, I plan to write up a history of Granville County, but I just don't have time for that right now. If you would like to volunteer to write up a short history, please email me
